Dr Appelt
Dr Peter Appelt is a General Practitioner from German descent based in Pietermaritzburg, happily married with one child.
He started his private practice in August 2000, after serving as a state employee. He has been in private practice for the past 21 years.
His areas of interest in the profession are with aviation medicals, chronic illnesses, surgery and family medicine.
His passion lies in deep sea fishing, wood working, birding and hiking.
He is conversant in English, Afrikaans, German and Zulu.
Dr Van der Merwe
Dr Anje van der Merwe qualified at the University of Stellenbosch in 2008. She obtained a Diploma in Anaesthetics in 2012 and a Diploma in Conscious sedation at the University of the Western Cape in 2014. She spent time working in the Cardiology department at Greys hospital, worked in primary health clinics in rural Edendale, and has done various courses in aesthetic medicine (administration of anti wrinkle injections, fillers and threading).
Being a wife and mom to three lively children has sparked an interest for women's and children's health. She has always been passionate about prevention of lifestyle diseases, like hypertension and diabetes, and the cardiovascular complications thereof, should it occur.
She loves spending time with her family, reading if time allows, gardening and hiking in the Berg.
Dr Marli Myburgh
Dr Myburgh graduated MBChB from Stellenbosch University in 2016 and subsequently completed her Internship in the Pietermaritzburg Hospitals Complex in 2017/2018.
For Community Service in 2019, she was placed at George Regional Hospital where she spent 12 months in the Paediatric Department. During this year she completed a Diploma in Child Health.
From 2020-2023 Dr Myburgh worked in a Family Practice in Kokstad, sharpening a wide variety of skills, including the use of ultrasonography as a bedside diagnostic tool.
When not in the consultation room, she spends her time gardening, woodworking, painting and composing music. She is happily married and has 2 furry children.

Monika
Monika does the bookkeeping in the office. She has been married for a very long time to Bernd and they have one son, named Jens. Monika & Bernd matriculated together at the German School in Hermannsburg 1988. Jens went to school at St Charles College and matriculated in 2021.
After school Monika nursed at Greys for a year and stopped because she is not as sweet as Jenny. She then did a bookkeeping and secretarial course. Her first paying job for 12 years was working in Forestry. She started working for Dr Appelt when he opened the practice in August 2000.
Her hobbies are running after her men and cooking. They absolutely love being home. Their home language is German, she is fluent in English & understands Afrikaans. Her goal in life is to one day have a neat desk, to be a good wife to Bernd and to carry on being an irritating nagging mom to Jens.
